Back from the dead

Finally, an update!
Provided that the world won't end tomorrow - during the next two weeks you can expect FuturixImager 5.9.4, first alpha version of FuturixImager 6, and initial attempt at a new website. Also, support group will finally get some attention from me (as it will replace current ugly forums).

FuturixImager 5.9.3

FuturixImager 5.9.3 is now available. It includes a workaround for recently discovered localization issue and also a workaround for working with buggy HP printer drivers.

Mixed bag

  • Good news, FuturixImager 5.9.3 is almost ready and will be available soon.
  • In not-so-good news, I just lost my job and looking for a new one... ;-(

Next release

  • FuturixImager 5.9.3 will be released soon - it will have fix for recent localization issue and a few other bug-fixes.
  • New website will launch at the same time as 5.9.3 (I hope!).
  • The development of FuturixImager 6 now turned into a nearly complete rewrite of the software, so it might take more time to do then previously expected.

Status update

A variety of news - good and bad (mostly bad):

  • The 5.9.x series of FuturixImager has a nasty issue with localization in some languages. If you are having problems, I recommend you to download version 5.8.8 from archive. The issue itself will be resolved in version 6 (which will be fully Unicode).
  • I plan a re-launch of the website in February - mostly because our current CMS is not good enough...
  • The development of FuturixImager 6 is under way - but it is not going as fast as I was hoping (I'm too busy in offline life right now). Now I plan to have first alpha version in mid-February.

FuturixImager 5.9.2

FuturixImager 5.9.2 is now available. Apart from final (hopefully!) fix for full-screen bug - it also has several new filters and experimental (aka untested) lossless JPEG crop.

Co-incidentally I just uploaded the updated SDK - with latest strings for translation and instructions on how to create themes for version 5.9 (any takers?).

The Sixth Imager

To save time I decided that I will not publish developer documentation for FuturixImager 5.9 online - it will be obsolete in two months anyway (FuturixImager 6 will have some major changes in plug-in system). Instead updated SDK download (for version 5.9) will be published later this week. And this weekend I will launch a new way for translators to upload their translations to Futurix website.

I also started work on FuturixImager 6 - and the first alpha version is expected for 18th of January. As announced before - alpha versions will be available only to those who subscribed for alpha testing. Public testing of beta versions will start at the end of February.
