FuturixImager “Splash” α2

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Second alpha version of Unicode-enabled FuturixImager is now available :-)

Download now (1.3 mb)

New features:

  • Many bug-fixes in Unicode support
  • Added support for media keyboard keys, mouse wheel click, and side mouse buttons
  • Restored functionality of “Info” dialog

Known issues are the same as with Alpha 1 (no plug-ins available, etc). Please note that this is a very early preview of the next release of FuturixImager – it lacks many features that are expected of a normal image viewer and undoubtedly has a lot of bugs (but that is the point of alpha and beta releases, isn’t it?).
The next update (aka Alpha 3) will be available by the end of the week.

FuturixImager “Splash” α1

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

First preview release of Unicode-enabled FuturixImager is now available :-)
I decided to release it under the codename “Splash” – mostly because I’m undecided about the version number for this release.

Download now (1.3 mb)

New features:

  • FuturixImager now supports Unicode
  • Major speed improvements
  • List of recently opened files rewritten (plus it now also appears in context menu)

Known issues:

  • No plug-ins, themes, or translations are currently available for this preview; the ones from earlier versions will not work with the preview…
  • “Info” dialog is mostly broken (no EXIF information displayed, no histogram)
  • “Open” dialog no longer shows thumbnail quick preview (in the future releases thumbnails will be shown in file browser)
  • This preview will co-exist with older versions and shouldn’t affect them at all (just make sure you are installing it to the different folder)

The next update (aka Alpha 2) will follow early next week – I’m going to release previews often.
Have fun! :-D
