The best thing about having a personal project is the ability to change deadlines at any time – so yesterday I changed my deadline for Beta 1 to today, and today I made it!
New features:
- More than 50 bug-fixes in file format support
- Imager now looks better on Windows 7
- Partial introduction of new localization (change not yet visible to the user, but hey)

Happy New Year!
P.S. Starting from the next year/release FuturixImager will be copyrighted by both me and Futurix Ltd – I finally got around to protecting the name Futurix and have my own company for that purpose
Hey, I just want to say Happy New Year to everyone!
And big big big thx for your work!!!!
Hi Alexander, great tool, I just found and installed it. I realize it’s still an early beta, however just to let you know in case you don’t use Windows 7 x64: On my system, “File format associations” does nothing, the extras don’t recognize the installed version, and there seems to be no option to open the viewer in fullscreen mode.
Keep up the good work, and Happy New Year!
Happy new year
@RealZeratul: Just FYI, the assocations can be changed by running fxformats.exe as an administrator.
Thx for your response, but I don’t even have an fxformats.exe, only fximager and fxfreg (which sounds like file registering, but doesn’t do anything, even in admin mode).
On a side note, it would also be great to have an option to suppress scroll bars in fullscreen mode.
Found the option to suppress the scroll bars.
Beta 1 does not support registering file format associations at all
This is because I’m currently rewriting this part (fxfreg.exe is indeed a new tool for file format registration in Windows 7 and Vista) and it will be available in Beta 2 (hopefully Sunday next week). Sorry about the confusion!
Hey Alex, any chance different filetypes can get distinct icons? I think I’ve grown spoiled by Windows built in icons that differentiate between JPG, BMP, PNG, etc, and find it much easier to differentiate between files of different types that way.
Absolutely. I’m still deciding on how exactly to do this, but it will be part of final release for sure.
